If you’re new to Disney, you may not know what a MagicBand is. If you have been within the past several years, you’re probably familiar. MagicBands are bands to wear around your wrists that hold several things controlled by an RFID chip. Here are some frequently asked questions about MagicBands.
What is the purpose of a MagicBand?
They can be used in the following ways:
- Park Tickets
- Fast Passes
- Load your credit/debit card/Disney gift cards onto them for paying through the day
- Disney Resort room keys
- Disney Dining Plan information
- Your pass to board the Magical Express bus from the airport to your resort
- Memory Maker
How much do MagicBands cost?
If you are an annual pass holder or you stay on Disney property, you are supplied with a complimentary MagicBand. If you do not stay on property or get an annual pass, I still highly recommend buying a MagicBand for each person going on your trip. As of today, the prices range from $12.99 to $22.99. There are single color options and different patterns available. They are definitely not a required purchase, but they sure are convenient! If you do not get a MagicBand, you will have a card that you need to keep up with during the day as your park ticket and will have to pull it out for each person at each ride you get a fast pass at. This can be frustrating to make sure you are keeping up with these cards all day. It is so much easier to just pop your wrist up to the MagicBand scanner and go through the line.
Currently, if you go online to customize your MagicBand at least 11 days before you arrive at your Disney resort, it will be shipped to your home if you live in the United States. If you miss that 11-day deadline, you can still customize your MagicBand 6-10 days before you arrive, and it will be waiting for you at the resort. If you do not customize your MagicBand within 5 days of arrival, you will receive a non-customized MagicBand when you arrive at your resort.
What happens if you lose your MagicBand?
MagicBands are pretty secure, but I did almost lose mine once. Luckily, my husband noticed it has popped off my wrist before I left the ride we were on. As you can imagine, losing your MagicBand if it holds any information wouldn’t be ideal. If you lose it, there are a couple ways of reporting it lost in order to deactivate it. You can go to Disneyworld.com, visit the MagicBand section of My Profile, select which MagicBand was lost and deactivate it with the reason being it was lost. If you happen to be in the parks, go to a cast member and explain to them that you lost it, so they can show you where Guest Services is to replace the Band with a standard issue one. It is important to go into the My Disney Experience app to deactivate your MagicBand so no one can use your information. During our next trip, I’m going to use this product to keep my MagicBand more secure. I especially recommend getting this for your younger children to help their bands stay on their little wrists.
Will a MagicBand fit my small child?
Yes, MagicBands can fit very small children. You can cut them to fit those smaller children.
How do you set up your MagicBand?
Once you have planned your visit and received your MagicBand, go to https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_GB/plan/ and enter the number on the back of your MagicBand to sync it to your account.
Can I use my MagicBand for more than one trip?
Yes, you can use your MagicBand in the future for different trips. As long as the information is synced up to your account, it will work each time you go to the parks.
